BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling Inc. is an American company, but it has Swiss and Japanese roots, hence the flags of the three nations flying in front of the company’s new 33,000-square-foot facility in Hoffman Estates, about 30 miles north of downtown Chicago.
Chris Kaiser, president and COO of BIG Kaiser, led the formalities at the grand opening celebration. BIG Kaiser is a joint venture formed by Heinz Kaiser AG and BIG Daishowa Seiki Co. Ltd. in 2003.
Dignitaries participating in the ribbon cutting ceremony included top officials from BIG Kaiser and BIG Daishowa, as well as William McLeod, mayor of Hoffman Estates.
The new building has a 5,000-square-foot showroom that features product display areas and test machines.
Artwork in the showroom captures the spirit of craftsmanship and tradition that the company wishes to project.
Product displays include the range of Kaiser modular tooling systems and BIG Daishowa dual-contact toolholders as well as products from Speroni, Sphinx Tools, Unilock and other manufacturers of precision tooling and related products.
To demonstrate tooling concepts in action, the showroom houses latest-generation machine tools from Mori Seiki, Chiron and Toyoda (not in view).
The Speroni line of tool presetting and measuring systems is represented by four models.
A spacious tool room and repair center is located between the showroom and the warehouse/shipping departments.
A 60-seat classroom is available for training and seminars.
This conference room typifies the décor of the sales offices and administrative area.
