In my last column, I covered the value of attending webinars. I don’t believe I’m contradicting myself when I say face-to-face interaction can be more valuable. Meeting colleagues in person and networking really cannot be replaced on a Zoom call or webinar.
This is one reason I’m encouraging attendance at this year’s Parts Cleaning Conference (PCC), presented by Production Machining, Products Finishing, Modern Machine Shop, Manufacturing Cleaning Association and parts2clean. Held on Sept. 13, and co-located at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) in Chicago, the conference will take place in McCormick Place’s East Hall, the same hall in which the industrial cleaning exhibits are housed.
The fact that the one-day conference is co-located with IMTS this year is another reason to attend. So, while you are learning all things parts cleaning, you can also use your time there to immerse yourself in everything IMTS has to offer. The trade show is the largest manufacturing technology show in the western hemisphere and attracts thousands of attendees who cover a range of manufacturing industries that necessitate parts cleaning.
Owners/managers of CNC machine shops across the globe will be in attendance in some capacity. Their companies perform metalworking processes such as additive manufacturing/3D printing, abrasive machining/finishing, fabricating and lasers as well as gear generation. My third reason to attend this year’s conference: Many good speakers are anxious to share their presentations. Darren Williams and I are again co-chairing this event, and we have thoughtfully chosen content we believe is insightful as well as some new and different (than PCCs in past years) cleaning topics that we are excited to offer.
For instance, Gerhard Koblenzer, CEO of LPW in Germany, will present “Standards and Methods for Planning High Purity Processes,” where he will cover how users can fulfill stringent requirements for technical cleanliness. “How to Test New Cleaning Agents,” presented by Ed Kanegsberg, Ph.D., will help attendees decide which alternative cleaning agents are right for an application.
Other speakers will touch on subjects such as cleaning cutting tools in different stages of production, cleaning 3D-printed metal parts, cleanliness analysis, maintaining a proper ultrasonic cleaning process and more.
