The company’s VSC series vertical pick-up turning machines feature inverted spindles and can be used in a range of applications.
Each machine is a turning or manufacturing cell with automatic workhandling via the pickup spindle, which provides for the machining of chucked components. The workpiece, which is clamped in the pickup spindle, traverses with the axes. Meanwhile, the tooling systems are fixed in position below the workpiece.
The machines can be used either as standalone machines or as part of a manufacturing system. Workpieces with diameters ranging from 10 mm to 1,000 mm can be machined.
Other features include a close-looped design; a rigid, U-shaped machine base in Mineralit polymer granite; and symmetrical force distribution. A hydrostatic guideway supports the workspindle’s Z axis, which may improve surface finish and prolong tool life.
Of special interest is that all elements are fluid-cooled, which maintains the machine temperature within limits of the ambient temperature.
