The Bock Workholding system is a line of products specifically designed to enable complete machining on five sides of the workpiece in a single setup. The system allows a greater range of tool access angles over conventional vises on five-axis machining centers, the company says. The vises are offered with a comprehensive range of special jaws, standard jaws, hardened steel jaws and machinable soft jaws, which are said to enable the end user to machine the jaws for virtually any specific requirement. The system consists of a solid, high-strength steel or cast iron base, ground steel guiding surfaces and a clamping mechanism, which is available in self-centering, manual and hydraulic activation. Four system sizes are available, with jaw widths ranging from 2.4" (60 mm) to 5.9" (125 mm), standard and custom-manufactured adapter plates and quick-change mounting to fit the customer’s pallet or machine table.
