Walter Introduces Latest Tool-Grinding Machine
Its latest tool-grinding machine, the Helitronic G 200, is designed for grinding and re-sharpening rotationally symmetrical cutting tools.
Walter has introduced the latest addition to its machine lineup, the Helitronic G 200 tool grinder. It is designed for grinding and re-sharpening rotationally symmetrical cutting tools that range from 1-125 mm (0.039-4.92") in diameter with a grinding wheel up to 150 mm (5.91"). The machine can accommodate a maximum tool length of 235 mm (9.25") and a tool weight of up to 12 kg (26.45 lb). It features a footprint of less than 2.3 m2 (24.8 ft2).
The design integrates a swivelling, multifunction touch panel with a 21.5" monitor that is meant to facilitate easy operation and accessibility to the working area. A low-vibration, solid mineral cast bed and C-frame construction offers damping capabilities and thermal stability, which the company says results in maximum grinding precision. The linear axes X, Y and Z are built according to the company’s quality standard. The rotating A and C axes are equipped with torque motors designed to last with minimum service effort. The Helitronic G 200 uses Walter’s Helitronic Tool Studio grinding software, designed to provide ease of programming with high flexibility.
An optional loading system is available to enable automation. The top loader is directly integrated into the work envelope for easy access without requiring additional floor space. Suitable for tools from 3-16 mm (0.118-0.63") in diameter, the maximum tool capacity of the loading system is 500 tools for tools with a 3 mm (0.118") diameter. The Top Loader uses Walter-standard robot pallets and automated electrical teaching.
