Leaders-In background

Knuth Machine Tools offers the versatile DL E series universal lathes for handling heavy-duty fabrication and single part production. The stable, highly accurate lathe is able to handle applications ranging from rough to fine operations on a variety of materials, the company says.

Equipped with a 5.1" spindle bore, a swing ranging to 79" and a 315" distance between centers, the lathe features a heavy, cast iron base and machine bed with strong ribbing to minimize vibration and improve stability. A 30-hp motor ensures high chip removal capacity, and induction-hardened and ground guideways maintain accuracy, the company says.

For increased productivity, the lathe features a three-axis position indicator and includes a glass scale on the compound. The display features a keyboard layout to provide operator-specific features such as default coordinates, calculator function and metric-to-inch measurement conversions.

The lathe is built with a joystick-style control to accommodate X- and Z-axis rapid traverse. It also features a hand lever for tailstock adjustments and separate rapid feed motors for the X and Z axes.
