Thread Whirling System

Share

Leaders-In background

Manufactured by Schwanog, this thread whirling system has been designed to produce bone screws, which are typically used in the orthopedic and dental industries.

The system consists of one holder and six indexable, custom-ground inserts. Each insert carries three TiAlN coated cutting edges, which are said to eliminate the re-sharpening and setting to center height processes.

Thread whirling can be accomplished in the same manner as before. However, because the system has six inserts, the user is said to benefit from increased cutting speeds; prolonged tool life; as much as 120' linear thread length per cutting edge and favorable surface finishes on titanium and stainless steel.
