Designed for rigidity and accuracy, the 50-taper Ultra ZV5500 and 40-taper ZV5400 VMCs feature large workspaces, long strokes and fast rapid traverse speeds. Manufacturer NTC America says both are well-suited for use as stand-alone machines.
With maximum spindle speeds of 8,000 rpm, the machines’ XYZ axis travels are 44" × 22" × 22". The 50-taper machine has a 35/30-hp spindle drive motor and rapid traverse rate of 2,362 ipm, while the 40-taper model is equipped with a 25/20-hp spindle drive motor and 1,654-ipm rapid traverse rate. Table size is 51.7" × 24.4".
