GE Fanuc Intelligent Platforms, a unit of GE Enterprise Solutions, offers Proficy Tracker 8.0, a lean production control that manages inventory, schedules resources in real-time and controls the routing of material through a discrete manufacturing process. The software allows users to manage the physical routing and delivery of multiple product components and subassemblies into complex product assemblies. Users can also implement and operate a comprehensive work-in-progress tracking system.
The application uses data from automated sensors and readers, including barcodes, RF tags and other mechanical tag systems. Graphic screens display tracking path, item information and production control commands. The software maintains detailed data for all jobs in the system, including content, status, location and production process counts. It also keeps cycle counts, repair information and carrier status online.
The software accommodates production flow adjustments, from minor modifications to major system redesign. Automated tracking and routing is said to increase the return on existing equipment. This feature automatically sends defective materials to a rework area and scrapped materials to a recycling area; groups batches of products to improve efficiency by reducing setup and waste; monitors carriers in need of maintenance; and provides line balancing during production startup.
