Verisurf Software’s Verisurf X8 features enhancements designed to make stationary CMMs, portable CMMs and 3D scanners more productive for automated inspection, guided assembly and reverse engineering. For example, a new “automate” module enables programming and running automated inspection routines on fixed gantry CMMs while expanding portable in-process inspection and reverse-engineering measurement applications. The module offers a 3D experience with graphical object-oriented programming and support for open standards.
The software’s streamlined user interface enables direct solid modeling and editing of imported solid models with dynamic push and pull modeling for features, holes, surfaces and fillets. The updated interface offers entity selection with enhanced rendering, shading, translucence and lighting. Larger icon options are available for higher-resolution displays. Updated measurement settings and onscreen information display make it faster and easier to read measurement settings and results, the company says. Grouping and naming capabilities improve measurement data organization, selection, display and use.
Color Point Cloud Support is offered for large-volume 3D scanners used for aerospace, defense, ship building and processing plant manufacturing, overhaul and documentation. Feature-fitting to point clouds and STL mesh has been enhanced for faster geometric feature recognition and reverse engineering. Minimum zone fitting supports best-fit algorithms. An updated InspectionXpert interface automates drawing-based first article inspection and reporting.
In addition, the new touch toolbar supports coordinate metrology touchscreen applications including Windows 8 tablets on the shop floor. Software security features provide permissions-based access to Verisurf files, modules and features, and 3D PDF reports now support 3D model-based definition (MBD) and color measurement reports.
