The Solidmax vise jaw and workholding system from SM Workholding turns standard single- or double-station machine tool vises into self-adjusting, multiple-part fixturing systems for reduced setup time and increased production. The system uses no hydraulics or spring-actuated devices, but rather activates its non-rotating plungers via a proprietary mechanical actuating means as the vise’s moving jaw is tightened. As many as 12 parts can be secured with the same clamping force despite size variances to 0.060”.
The system can be used with any standard machine tool vise and clamps parts that are round or square, in addition to more complex geometries such as small castings or forgings.
