Companies struggling to integrate their machine control, data collection and safety needs will find a welcome solution in Omron’s new NX1 controller. As the latest addition to the popular NJ/NX machine automation controller family, the NX1 is a palm-sized device that brings advanced control to compact machines and enables effortless integration with information utilization, quality control and safety.

In this age of flexible manufacturing where requirements shift constantly, data is far too valuable to ignore. This is true even when data processing threatens to slow down the control cycle. The NX1 addresses this major challenge by making secure data transfer (OPC UA server/SQL) easily available at the machine level and keeping productivity high with a unique multicore technology.

The NX1 contains all the following features within its sleek, 66 mm-wide design:

  • OPC UA built-in standard on all models for direct and secure data transfer to enterprise
  • Direct SQL database connection for real-time data traceability
  • Dual isolated EtherNet/IP ports for separating factory network from enterprise network
  • One EtherCAT port dedicated to comprehensive line control
  • Up to 12 axes of motion control
  • Synchronized control of motion and I/O within 1 ms cycle time using multicore processors to ensure performance to specifications
  • 5 MB program capacity
  • Integrated 32 NX slice IO modules on local bus and 400 modules via NX-Coupler

The NX1 uses Omron’s powerful Sysmac platform, a fully integrated software solution for machine automation.
