The new AlTiN coating is said to feature a combination of high-heat resistance, high-hardness and high-friction coefficient, making it special in its ability to enhance cutting tool performance in applications where the hardness of the material is 40 HRC or higher. AlTiN (Aluminum Titanium Nitride) is designed for high speed, high velocity machining and dry high speed machining of hard and/or abrasive materials. The high aluminum content and mechanical properties of the coating are said to provide higher hardness and better abrasion resistance for milling, drilling and turning of hard materials, along with freer cutting properties and improved chip evacuation for dry machining applications.
