Available from Liebherr Gear Technology, the Wenzel WGT 280 gear-measuring machine is designed to measure gears smaller than 280 mm in diameter as well as rotationally symmetrical parts. The machine’s compact construction and small footprint are said to ease integration into existing processes. The measuring volume and easy access simplify loading and operation of the system, making it suitable for use with automated loading systems. The smaller machine is an extension of the WGT series, designed for the requirements of the automotive industry.

The system enables measurements in a Z range as large as 500 mm, and the high-precision rotary table accommodates workpieces ranging to 50 kg. Equipped with the Renishaw SP 600 scanning probe system, the machine can measure gears starting with a module of 0.5 as standard. It can also be equipped with a tailstock for accurate measurement of shafts.

The base plate and linear guides are made of hard stone and finished by hand. The combination of granite technology and precise air suspension are said to provide a durable, highly accurate measuring system. A specially developed controller for gear metrology provides optimal four-axes control and measuring performance, the company says. The machine also is equipped with a modular software package which leads users through various input masks to enter parameters for measurement and analysis. The basic TGear package can be extended by different modules for measuring and analyzing different types of gears and shafts.
