Rohm and Haas Electronic Materials have released the new RegiStar laser-imageable technologies product line for use with laser projection systems. This material has been developed to serve as an alternative to conventional tooling methods, while offering flexibility to the advanced composites, marine and aerospace industries. It is available as a tape format in 150' rolls of various widths.
According to the company, CAD data can be used with laser projection systems to mark directly onto the material, recording a lasting contrast image visible on production parts throughout the fabrication process. With this capability, users can implement design changes “on-the-fly”.
Another potential benefit is reduced costs and labor, the company says. Parts can continue moving with the tooled image recorded onto the RegiStar material, which can streamline production.
