The I-Mark I-Series from Columbia Marking Tools integrates scribe or dot-peen marking into automation systems. The series is available in standard dot peen and Silent Scribe versions, both of which can mark at speeds as fast as 4 to 5 characters per second, including 2d/UID machine readable codes. The Silent Scribe model can also mark the company’s high-resolution Square-Dot 2D code. Three different mounting sides are offered for easy installation into production equipment. The marking head has a solid aluminum frame for durability, and high-torque motors help ensure precision marking in any orientation. The NEMA 4 controller provides a range of communication options and has four mounting holes for quick placement in automation.
The system is programmed using the company’s I-Mark software for Windows with a graphical user interface. It can be programmed remotely via LAN or directly with a dedicated PC. The screen displays the marking layout for placing and sizing serial numbers, date codes and other information according to application requirements. The software enables direct importation of DXF vector files, a common logo format. Waypoints help create a workpath around objects for the marking head. Detailed log files can be reviewed to optimize cycle time and the marking process can be remotely monitored.
Optional features include small and large marking windows, an additional debris shield for industrial environments, extended pins for marking in recesses and extra-long cables to position the controller farther from the marking head.
