Walker Magnetic Group/O.S. Walker is launching a new style of magnetic workholding chucks designed specifically for use with high speed machining centers.
Developed to be an effective workholding solution to manual clamping methods for precision milling applications such as tool and mold making, the Walker LP-HSM chucks can simplify complicated set ups. Tight tolerance repeatability and uniform workpiece holding over the surface of the magnet are other potential advantages of using the chucks.
The low-profile design features a dual magnetic pack system, which uses earth magnets. According to the company, these magnets provide nearly 200-percent increase in holding power, while accommodating various workpiece material sizes.
The chucks are also designed for use with or without referencing systems in applications ranging from manually-operated to automated robotic systems. Additionally, they are ground flat, parallel and square within 0.0002". Sizes such as 6" × 12" × 1.732" or 12" × 12" × 1.732" are available, and models can be purchased individually or mounted to an existing referencing system.
