The company has added the Millport SmartLathez 1740 lathe with Centroid CNC control to its line of Millport knee mills, bed mills, engine lathes, CNC knee mill, CNC bed mills and CNC machining centers.
The SmartLathez is Meehanite casted and is equipped with precision ground ballscrews, a 10-hp spindle motor, 3 3/8" spindle bore supported at three points, dual handle manual pulse generator and a quick change tool post. The bedways are induction hardened and ground, and the slideways of the saddle and crosslide are lined with Turcite-B.
The company says that with this full featured lathe, making parts will be simple and fast. With the Centroid CNC control featuring Intercon Conversational software programming, cutting threads, grooves, profiles, chamfers, lines and arcs will be easy, according to the company.
The Centroid T400S control, with its high speed servomotors, gives users accuracy down to 0.00001". The control is network ready as standard, allowing users to connect to a LAN and instantly transfer files to the control; there is no drip feed.
