The XD is the newest iteration on the 5/6D laser measurement system. Like the 5/6D, the new system has the capability to simultaneously measure all axis errors for rapid machine tool error assessment, says Automated Precision Inc. (API). Thus, measurement can be accomplished in 3 to 4 hours as opposed to days.
The 6D version provides “roll” measurement around an axis, along with linearity, X and Y straightness and pitch and yaw measurements. The capability to measure 21 error parameters of the work area coupled with API’s Volumetric Error Compensation package enable users to prolong the life of their machining centers, says the company.
Multiple configurations are offered to meet user-specific needs. The system is available in two grades of accuracy—the standard and the precision models.
