CoroTurn XS tooling from Sandvik Coromant offers solutions for internal turning, grooving and threading. The new line features four sizes—CXS-04, -05, -06 and –07—each of which include inserts for a range of hole diameters. Various lengths are also available to meet application-specific requirements.
These inserts fit into boring bars that are designed with internal cutting fluid supply, directed at the cutting edge via two nozzles to promote chip evacuation and sufficient cooling. Boring bars range in diameter size from 10 mm to 25.4 mm.
According to the company, the inserts locate precisely into the boring bars, which can be attributed to a locating pin. This is said to be conducive to correct positioning of the cutting edge.
Designed for small-parts machining in sliding headstock CNC machines, the line is suited for use in the automotive, watch, connector and medical industries.
