According to manufacturer M.A. Ford, TuffCut XR four- and five-flute solid carbide end mills are useful for heavy roughing and finishing of materials such as stainless steel, titanium and cobalt chromes. Suited for the medical industry, the tools can be employed to machine trauma products, instrumentation kits and components for replacement hips, knees and shoulders.
Users can select from more than 330 variations, including square end, ball end and multiple-corner radii, as well as a choice of stub, standard, long and extra-long flute lengths. The tools' flute geometry is designed to allow increased speeds while reducing harmonics. To prolong tool life, the end mills are coated with the company’s custom AlTiN coating. The tools are available in sizes ranging from 1/8" to 1" and from 3 mm to 25 mm.
