BIG Kaiser Precision Tooling has expanded its Phoenix drill series, which is part of the Sphinx product line. The solid carbide Phoenix drill is said to offer more productivity than conventional solid carbide counterparts.
The drill series has expanded from in size from 6×D to include 3×D and 12×D. The Helica-coated dills are available in diameters ranging from 1 to 12.7 mm, in 0.1-mm increments. Coolant-through models are available for 2.5-mm and larger drills.
The drill’s high-performance flute and point geometry ensure low cutting forces and optimum chip control, the company says. The internal coolant makes the series suited for cutting extra-hard materials such as steel, stainless steel, cast iron and titanium. Additionally, its ultra-fine grain composition is said to deliver increased wear resistance and toughness for high speeds and feeds.
