ERP Tool for Manufacturers Facilitates Self-Customization

Global Application Builder (GAB), a programming tool that allows users to modify its ERP system to suit their specific needs, follows significant and successful customer field-testing of GAB in a variety of applications, the company says.

The tool is a rapid application development language built from the ground up to integrate with the company’s One-System ERP tools. The tool allows both front-end and business logic customizations without impact to the core system. System integrity and upgrade migration are not compromised, and users are able to make functionality changes without waiting for a customized option to be built or for a system update.

With GAB, customers can create user-defined workflows; reconfigure screen elements; add user-specific security and validation; integrate with third-party products via popular networking protocols, ODBC, XML; integrate with office software suites; interact with Ethernet or serial-connected shopfloor machining centers and SCADA packages; and create new ERP sub-systems that are integrated with the base package.

The tool also allows for sharing: Customers can post GAB projects onto the forum to share programs or discuss them with other customers—a valuable knowledge exchange opportunity. Customers who don’t wish to develop extensions and applications themselves can rely on the company’s R&D personnel to create custom solutions within the tool.
