Drawbars Can Reduce Tool Change Time

With Kurt’s automatic and mechanical PowerLock drawbars, users can automate knee-type milling machines for tool changes. According to the manufacturer, the drawbars can improve milling machine output by reducing tool change time by as much as 75 percent.
To operate, users insert the tool and push a button on the automatic model, or push a lever on the mechanical model. Both models promote fast, uniform collet tightening without requiring hand tools and manual tightening. The drawbars are also said to prevent inadequate tightening, tool slippage and breakage.
The tools are designed to reduce milling machine operator fatigue, while eliminating operator stretching for tool setup. In addition to providing consistent torque on the drawbar rod, these products also eliminate drawbar tapping, the company says.
