Components Useful For Contact Lenses, CT Scanners And More

Agathon Machine Tools, Inc. manufactures precision linear guide element components, consisting of guide pins, bushings and ball cages. Although traditionally used in progressive metal stamping dies, or wherever high speed, high-volume or close tolerance stamping requirements exist, the products are gaining popularity in the medical industry. The components are useful for applications involving short stroke, backlash free, precision linear motion, says the company.
When assembled, the products operate under a preload, or slight interference condition. There is no clearance between the components, as with slide bushing or recirculating ball component assemblies. According to the company, this results in better alignment between moving parts.
Typical medical applications for which the products are suited include injection molds, blister packaging dies, contact lenses and precision optics machinery, CT scanners and fluid metering devices.
