Leaders-In background
Vortec says its Cold Air pistol is designed for manufacturers, MRO shops and service organizations that spot cooling to increase tool life, production rates and quality, without the liquid mess associated with coolants, the company says.

Common cold-air guns are dedicated to a specific tool and are affixed in place with a magnetic holder.

In contrast, the company’s cold-air pistol is mobile and is said to feature an ergonomic trigger mechanism for cooling on demand. It can be used for a variety of applications, including freeing seized bearings from tight interferences, easing bearing installation when heating is not an option, chilling heated bearing races to a shaft, cooling welds and solders, temperature testing thermostats, setting adhesives, and cooling parts and tools. If thermal cycling is needed, the pistol’s 0°F air stream cools material quickly to speed the process. It can also cool chromatographic columns in laboratory applications.
