Balinit Futura Nano is a TiAlN-based coating for gear production. The company says this coating is useful for cutting gears out of tool steels, stainless steels and other materials along with high speed steel and solid carbide hobs. The high hardness (3300 HV 0.05) and oxidation resistance (1,650° F) of the coating are said to allow for the reduction, if not elimination, of coolants.
The company also offers Balinit C, a Tungsten carbide/carbon coating for friction and wear resistance of gears. According to the company, this coating enhances reliability, extends service life and increases performance of precision components, in particular gears. The coating is said to reduce wear and friction, and its low coefficient of friction (0.1 to 0.2) even allows wear protection to uncoated frictional partners, the company says.
