View MoreHydromat offers two add-on systems, the Epic Remote System (RS) and Epic System Six (SS), for upgrading older, hydraulically driven Legacy-style Hydromat rotary transfer machines to CNC capability.
The Epic RS consists of a control unit for a single Epic tool spindle and a compact tablet computer used for programming. This offers users the advantage of Epic-embedded motion control (EMC) technology that previously could not be added to Legacy, the company says. The tablet computer is plugged into the RS to download the cutting program. Then, the tablet can be moved to another Epic unit or carried away to program work offline, away from the shop floor. The control stays intact and works as before, the company says. The Epic RS is suitable for adding one to three Epic units on one machine, or a number of units on several machines.
The Epic SS connects as many as six Epic CNC tool spindle units on one Legacy Hydromat machine. It is equipped with the full-sized Epic operator interface on a stand-alone, floor-mounted pedestal. The original control and the Epic SS control work together for a fast upgrade to multi-unit, multi-axis Epic CNC capabilities.
