Colliflower LLC’s Set-Up Stick is a clamping system comprised of a “stick,” a “stop” and a “tippy clamp” that together produce a strong forward and downward grip onto as little as 0.050".

The stick has a chuck-jaw-like, serrated top on which the stop moves and is fastened. It bears ¼-20 tapped holes—positioned at 22.5-degree angles—along its length for both fastening the stop and engaging the clamp. Positioned at 90 degrees, 0.201" holes also run the stick’s length (spaced 1" apart), through which the 10-32 mounting screws pass. Two inches from either end of the stick are 0.2500" holes for locating pins (if desired).

The stop has a serrated clamping surface for a strong grip and a toothed bottom for consistent 0.050" movements along the stick’s toothed surface. It has “legs” which dip into the stick’s middle slot for strength, and it sits a short 0.125" above the surface. Two stops are included with each device.

The clamp tips into engagement by means of the 22.5-degree screw and the clamp’s 30-degree engagement surface, forcing a strong grip. It has a “double-tip grip” as well, since both ends are nearly identical and both are meant to be used as the “bite.” If the stop’s 0.050" incremental movements are larger or smaller than desired, users can use the other end of clamp, which decreases or increases the gripping position by 0.030".

Mounting the Set-Up Stick requires that the user simply tap 10-32 holes 1" apart and fasten with taper-headed screws for accurate, repeatable locating. Locating pins can be used if desired.
