Delcam, an Autodesk company, will demonstrate the 2016 version of its PowerMill programming software for five-axis and high-speed machining. The main enhancement in this release is the ability to mirror complete machining projects in one operation and to automatically maintain the machining characteristics. According to the company, automatic mirroring saves time when right- and left-hand versions of a part or tool are needed. It also makes it faster to program machining of symmetrical objects, since it is possible to program one half and then mirror the tool paths to complete the program.

The software release also enables simulation of more complex tool changes, particularly those involving a carousel mechanism. Other improvements to simulation include a new form to print out the position of the cutting tooltip during simulation, an auto-translucency option that will allow viewing of the table-attach point at all times, and the ability to draw the safe areas translucently for rapid moves.
