CAD/CAM Software Reduces Data Redundancy
Geometric’s CAMWorks 2014 CAD/CAM software is said to accelerate design-to-part time by improving productivity.
Geometric’s CAMWorks 2014 CAD/CAM software is said to accelerate design-to-part time by improving productivity. The integrated program can be used for processes ranging from initial design to full machine simulation, reducing data redundancy and saving time. The release includes support for SolidWorks 2014, as well as other enhancements.
Turn profiles are now fully associated with the model from which they are extracted, enabling fast, efficient program changes. Users can specify the angle at which the turn profile must be extracted for turn-mill operations. Tool vectors for the tool paths can be viewed during step-through simulation, simplifying review of five-axis tool paths. A work-in-process (WIP) model can be used as a start-up stock when simulating sections of a tool path for shorter review times. Thirty-nine application programming interfaces (APIs) have been added to the current suite to help reduce repetitive activities and accommodate users who want to customize or automate their systems. More pre-programmed routines have been added for sub-spindle operations.
The software now provides Mori-APT CL code for DMG Mori mill, turn and turn-mill machines, including the NMV, NH(X), NV(X), NL(X) and NT series. The APT-CL code from CAMWorks is certified to drive DMG Mori machines using Manufacturing Suite Post Processor, eliminating the need for custom postprocessors.
In conjunction with CAMWorks 2014, the company also offers the CAMWorks View app for the iPad, iPhone and iPod. The app enables users to view, review and annotate WIP models, tool paths and operation data without an additional CAMWorks license.
