CGS North America offers the latest version of its CAD/CAM software, CAM-Tool V3 version 4. V3 is designed for traditional three-axis mold and die machining as well as high speed machining, hard milling and medical applications, whereas the MX 3 + 2 product is used for multi-axis applications. The CAD/CAM software is suited for mold and die makers that need to do micromachining and medical machining or start cutting from a hardened block.
The release of V3 version 4 and MX 2.0 introduces a number of improvements and new toolpath strategies. While toolpath calculation has been time consuming with previous releases, the company says this version improves calculation speed by two to four times.
Also, the capabilities of the CL Editor have been enhanced to allow users even more control of alteration and deletion of tool paths as needed. In addition, tool paths can be reversed, turned into conventional milling tool paths and sorted in various ways to allow greater output flexibility.
For ease of automation, the “hole module” for processing plates or any kind of drilling, reaming or tapping operation now has a simple, graphical user interface.
Corner processing (polygon) is a new tool path designed to more effectively address corners and groove cutting. It uses the CAM Engine to allow for faster processing of larger jobs.
