The German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW) joined with the German-Indian Chamber of Industry and Commerce to organize two symposiums March 15 and 17 in Chennai and Pune, India, respectively. Among the 17 companies to showcase products and services were DMG MORI, Emag, Gleason, Heller, Kapp, MAG, Open Mind and Waldrich Coburg. According to the VDW, some 240 customers from the automotive, mechanical engineering and aviation industries attended the event in Chennai, while 220 came to the event in Pune.

“This is already the fourth occasion that the VDW has been represented in two cities at a time with its symposia in India,” says Klaus-Peter Kuhnmünch, one of the symposium organizers, adding that the two cities are central to Indian industrial activity.

The association says that German manufacturers active in India are aiming to increase their share in that country’s machine tool import market.
