Siemens has partnered with companies in the additive manufacturing (AM) hardware space leading up to the launch of its Charlotte Advanced Technology Collaboration Hub (CATCH), an AM collaboration facility. The CATCH facility will focus on the industrialization of additive manufacturing, working with machine builders, material suppliers and end-customers. Its grand opening will take place April 13.

The company has formed a strategic partnership with Roboze, a leader in industrial 3D printing of super polymers and composite materials. Siemens says the partnership aims to further the industrialization of 3D printing and increase production opportunities for companies in the energy, mobility and aerospace sectors. It will include the company’s ARGO 500 industrial 3D printer in its CATCH facility.

Tim Bell, additive manufacturing business manager at Siemens, says, “We have experienced the potential of Roboze's 3D printing firsthand, so much so that we have chosen to implement their ARGO 500 into our processes. I’m excited to be part of this project as I see ample strategic opportunities for the future of manufacturing.”

Siemens has also established a collaboration effort with Xerox Elem Additive Solutions. The company has purchased an ElemX metal 3D Printer, adding it to the fleet of additive machines inside the CATCH facility. The ElemX leverages Xerox’s liquid metal AM that uses aluminum wire and incorporates the Siemens Sinumerik 840D SL control platform with its embedded digital twin technology.

This collaboration provides early access opportunities for Xerox and Siemens to share advancements in digitalization solutions and automation software designed to impact the distributed manufacturing model, the company says. Siemens is the latest addition to the Xerox Manufacturing Partner Network (MPN).
