Sandvik Under New Leadership

Sandvik Coromant has appointed Tom Erixon as president of its global operations in Sandviken, Sweden. Effective September 1, 2009, Mr. Erixon will replace current president Kenneth Sundh.

Mr. Erixon currently serves as executive vice president of Sandvik Tooling and president of Sandvik Hard Materials, a product area within Sandvik Tooling. His past experience includes various leadership positions within the Sandvik Group and the Boston Consulting Group.

In other news from Sandvik Coromant, the company recently established a new Aerospace Application Center in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. The center will focus on projects for machining in high-temperature and titanium alloys for aeroframe structural parts and engine components. The goal is to concentrate specifically on customers who are interested in readdressing their current processes.

A team of industry specialists, process and development engineers and CAM programmers support customer projects and training at the center, which is equipped with the latest machines to develop processes for aerospace customers.
