Merger Creates Third-Largest CAD/CAM Provider
Vero Software, a provider of CAD/CAM/CAE solutions for the tooling industry, has merged with Planit Holdings, a developer of CAD/CAM software for the production engineering, sheet metal, metal fabrication and woodworking sectors.

Vero Software, a provider of CAD/CAM/CAE solutions for the tooling industry, has merged with Planit Holdings, a developer of CAD/CAM software for the production engineering, sheet metal, metal fabrication and woodworking sectors. The companies note that according to information from PLM consulting company CIMData, the merger creates the third largest CAD/CAM vendor behind Dassault Systemes and Siemens PLM.
The Planit Group offers software products globally under the Edgecam, Alphacam, Cabinet Vision, CabnetWare, Javelin and Radan brands. Vero focuses on plastic injection molds, sheet metal stamping dies, multi-axis milling, laser cutting and wire EDM products under the VISI, PEPS, Machining Strategist and SMIRT brands. The merger was funded by Battery Ventures (Boston, Massachusetts), which has been investing for more than 25 years in technology-driven companies.
