View MoreThe partner organizations that produce MFG Day across North America have announced that Edge Factor has joined the production team as a Media Partner. Edge Factor is a media production company that creates high-impact media that tell the stories of teams who design and build products that affect lives and the economy.
The company uses its media as the basis for EduFactor, a membership-based library of educational stories and tools intended to inspire the next generation of inventors, entrepreneurs and manufacturers. According to the media company, its EduFactor program empowers STEM teachers to use real life stories that make learning concepts relevant to students and provides tech teachers with turnkey, hands-on maker projects, interactive labs, career and technical lessons plans, and more. It also assists guidance counselors as they work with students to make informed career decisions.
“Manufacturing is filled with compelling stories, and Edge Factor tells these kinds of stories in a manner that has you on the edge of your seat,” said Ed Youdell, president and CEO of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, one of the four co-producers of Manufacturing Day. “We are delighted that Edge Factor producer, Jeremy Bout, and his production team have agreed to join us and share their storytelling talents with the Manufacturing Day movement.”
“There will always be schools that can’t take their students to a live Manufacturing Day event,” said Jeremy Bout. “They may simply be too far from the nearest manufacturing plant or their budget limitations make a field trip impossible. We believe these schools should be able to participate, and the virtual event package we are developing for Manufacturing Day will make that possible. With an EduFactor membership, schools that participate in live events will also be able to gain access to the virtual program which will give them an opportunity to continue the learning experience after a Manufacturing Day field trip has come and gone.”
Manufacturing Day is an annual national event, executed at the local level by more than a 1,500 manufacturers across North America that host students, teachers, parents, job seekers and other local community members at open houses designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers. A panel of co-producers including the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International (FMA), the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), the Manufacturing Institute (MI), the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP), and guest producer Industrial Strength Marketing (ISM) provide the centralized support necessary to coordinate this nationwide array of simultaneous events. The national media partners for the event are the Science Channel and Edge Factor.
Edge Factor's 2015 partners include the Gene Haas Foundation, Mastercam, Modern Machine Shop and Sandvik Coromant.
