Hardinge (Elmira, New York) has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of the Voumard internal diameter (ID) grinding business from Peter Wolters GmbH of Rendsburg, Germany. Founded in Neuchatel, Switzerland, nearly 70 years ago, Voumard was acquired by Peter Wolters in 2005 and moved to Germany in 2010.

According to Rick Simons, chairman, president and CEO of Hardinge, the company plans to move Voumard’s production and support back to Switzerland where it will be integrated into Hardinge’s Kellenberger business. The ID grinding offerings will complement Hardinge’s existing grinding solutions.
