Carl Zeiss Acquires Coordinate Measurement Specialists
The acquired Michigan company has been renamed Carl Zeiss Metrology Services Inc.

To expand its resources and provide applications programming for its coordinate measuring machines (CMMs), Carl Zeiss Industrial Metrology LLC (Maple Grove, Minnesota) has acquired Coordinate Measurement Specialists (CMS) Inc. (Novi, Michigan). Now known as Carl Zeiss Metrology Services Inc., the company will help to provide local support to Zeiss customers in the form of contract metrology services, training, technical support and application project management.
“CMS has been an outstanding business partner with Zeiss for over two decades,” says Michael Kirchner, Zeiss president. “Their technical expertise matches very well with our solution-based and customer-centric environment.”
John and Karl Gauruder remain co-owners of the company, while Al Chiasson is the new general manager.
