Additive Manufacturing Report Details Industry Growth

Additive manufacturing consulting firm Wohlers Associates Inc. has published its Wohlers Report 2015 detailing the state of additive markets worldwide and analysis of the industry. The market for additive manufacturing, consisting of all associated products and services worldwide, reportedly grew at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 35.2 percent to $4.1 billion in 2014. The industry expanded by more than $1 billion in 2014, with 49 manufacturers producing and selling industrial-grade additive machines.
Wohlers reports that growth occurred in all segments of the additive manufacturing industry, including the low-cost “desktop” 3D printer segment. The use of industrial metal additive systems for demanding production applications in the aerospace and medical markets also grew strongly.
