May 2016 Product Spotlight Slideshow: Laser & Waterjet
This month’s Modern Equipment Review Spotlight focuses on machines for laser and waterjet cutting.
Bystronic’s BySmart Fiber 3015 is said to speed the cutting process for thinner metals compared to a carbon dioxide laser while also providing quality and speed for thicker materials.
This Laser P 400U from GF Machining Solutions performs five-axis laser engraving, texturing and structuring on workpieces as large as 4.7 inches in diameter and height, especially accommodating small parts like cutting tools, inserts and micromachined workpieces.
This waterjet system from Jet Edge features 12 cutting heads moving along a gantry providing 0.001-inch linear positional accuracy per axis, 0.001-inch repeatability and 0.0004-inch maximum backlash.
The 3015 SR from MC Machinery Systems is an entry-level carbon dioxide laser cutting machine designed with features to ease operation such as cartridge recognition, which eliminates refocusing between changes, while enabling aggressive piercing of challenging materials.
These shaped holes are of the sort enabled by Prima Power Laserdyne’s ShapeSoft software for its SP94P fiber laser control. Multi-axis capabilities enable a single shape plus macro to be repeated to produce a shaped hole at various locations on a contoured, 3D surface.
Trumpf’s TruLaser 5030 uses an 8-kW TruDisk fiber laser to process steel as thick as 1 inch or stainless steel and aluminum as thick as 1.5 inches.
