A huge Mitsubishi plant is up for auction, DMG MORI grows its direct sales network, a record number of robots are sold in the United States, and other industry news.

The former home of Mitsubishi North America’s manufacturing and operations is up for auction. 

BidItUp Auctions Worldwide has announced it will be auctioning off the Mitsubishi Automotive Manufacturing and Operations Facility in Normal, Illinois. The massive four-day auction, scheduled to begin October 18, 2016, is intended to sell the 636-acre property, the 2,400,000-square-foot manufacturing and office complex, and the equipment on-site including, among other things, stamping machines, injection molding equipment, robots, CNC machine tools, welders and cranes. The property also includes farmland and individual properties with buildings. The plant was the home of Mitsubishi North America’s manufacturing and operations since 1988 and ceased production earlier this year.
