Help Us #CNCtheFuture with Pictures of What Manufacturing Means for You

Modern Machine Shop is asking IMTS attendees to help celebrate manufacturing by participating in an interactive display that will be built picture-by-picture at the Top Shops booth.

Throughout the year, Modern Machine Shop (MMS) has written a lot about two topics—IMTS 2018 and June 1928. The former is the most influential event in the machining industry. The latter is the month and year Gardner Business Media introduced Modern Machine Shop to the machining industry. What has made covering those two topics so meaningful (and so much fun) is the people and the progress they represent.

In revisiting 90 years of manufacturing reporting, it is not just the technology that stands out, it’s the stories. Stories about people that founded and built businesses. Stories about people that forced innovation and accelerated change. Stories about people that invented products and created processes. Stories that happened in the past. Stories happening in the present. Stories that will help write the future.

This is where you come in.

At IMTS 2018, Modern Machine Shop will again present the MMS Top Shops attraction. We ask you to help us celebrate by participating in a one-of-a-kind, interactive display that will be built, picture-by-picture, by you at the Top Shops booth in the entrance to McCormick Place’s North Building (booth #236600).

All you have to do is share a picture (or, better yet, pictures) tagging Modern Machine Shop’s Instagram (@modernmachineshop) or Twitter (@mmsonline) using the hashtag #CNCtheFuture. Then, visit the Top Shops Attraction to pick up some awesome Modern Machine Shop-branded gear and see how your picture is being used to help build manufacturing’s future.

What type of picture should you share? Anything that represents manufacturing’s past, present or future—it could be an old part or a new machine; a giveaway from an old tradeshow or a colleague that is a mentor to you or one you have mentored; it could even be a copy of a magazine you read or a website that you use to get ready for IMTS 2018. You can share as many photos as you like—just be sure to use #CNCtheFuture and to tag Modern Machine Shop—then, visit us at booth #236600 in the front of the North Building to see how your photo becomes part of manufacturing’s history.

To review:

  1. Take a picture
  2. Tag Modern Machine Shop on Instagram (@modernmachineshop) or Twitter (@mmsonline)
  3. Type #CNCtheFuture in your caption
Visit Modern Machine Shop Top Shops at IMTS 2018 and connect with Modern Machine Shop on Instagram and Twitter to follow the campaign and learn how you can pick up your own Modern Machine Shop gear.
