Analyzing the Actual Impact of Tooling
Shops often wonder why, when a cutting tool offers a cycle time reduction, the shop does not necessarily realize the savings.
Shops often wonder why, when a cutting tool offers a cycle time reduction, the shop does not necessarily realize the savings. The answer likely has to do with parts queuing after the improved cycle runs, so that little or no overall productivity enhancement is realized. This was one of the points Seco made at a presentation in its booth on Tuesday. The company's solution is productivity cost analysis (PCA) through its PCA software, which looks at a prospective tool's impact on a shop's complete process instead of on just one operation. Another announcement from the company is a new interactive microsite dedicated to aerospace machining.
