2010 IMTS pre-show issue

Twenty-four years ago (before Paige was even born), my hand was on the cover of the August 1986 foldout cover. The hand was holding a notepad with a list of technology categories. The photo was supposed to convey the idea of a show attendee about to enter the East Hall (Lakeside Center) at McCormick Place, Chicago. Several items are check-marked in red, implying that the attendee would explore these at the show

Of course, in those days, there were no digital electronic devices or web sites to assist in planning a trip to IMTS. Now it is much easier to ensure an efficient and effective use of time at the show. McCormick Place is dramatically different, too, with its soaring concourse and spacious new exhibit halls. The machines and equipment to be displayed next moth are vastly more capable, too. (Not to dwell on this, but my hand is more wrinkly and has a few age spots.) However, not all has changed.

It is still important to plan carefully to make a visit to IMTS as productive as possible. A good place to do that is at the IMTS web site. Whether or not you travel to Chicago for IMTS, it is still important to review the new technology offerings at the show. Our August can certainly help with that. It’s in the mail now for subscribers.

An article in that issue provides useful advice on the show and how to get the most from it. Read it here.

You can also visit the IMTS Zone on MMS Online. The zone includes write-ups about many new products and technologies that will be on display at McCormick Place.

And check this out: MMS’s Advanced Manufacturing Center will be back with exciting new displays.
