Niagara Cutter Updates Solutions for Aluminum Machining
Updated A245/345 product families are designed to reduce power consumption when machining aluminum with an optimized shape and ANF PVD coating.
Niagara Cutter, a Seco Tools company, has updated its A245/345 product families. These tooling solutions have been redesigned to reduce power consumption and improve chip evacuation in aluminum machining applications.
According to Jay Ball, North American solid milling product manager, the product family reduces power consumption by 20% or more due to its flute shape and polished K-land, which provide an optimal combination of helix angle and rake angle. Ball says that the A245/A345 product family solves the power consumption issue that most aluminum manufactures encounter.
These solutions also feature ANF (Aluminum Non-Ferrous) PVD coatings, which are meant to reduce friction and built-up material on the cutting edge. According to Ball, this improves workpiece surface finish and increases tool life, removing surface finish quality issues when milling aluminum. This can greatly increase the product's tool life.
