Open Mind’s hyperMill 2013.2 release includes updates to hyperCAD-S, a CAD component designed to address the requirements of NC programmers, particularly for tool and moldmaking. The CAD system features a DXF/DWG interface for improved importing of 2D entities, 3D meshes and dimensions as vector graphics with a DXF/DWG interface. This interface enables importing layers, colors, line types and workplanes that were defined in the origin system. The system can also be used to analyze workpieces stored in the program, and is able to recognize and highlight double entities such as repeated curves and faces. A new option enables inversing current selections to quickly isolate entities, and an “info two entities” command shows the maximum distance between two entities. Open Mind has also developed a data-format hyperMill CAD template (hmct) for the hyperCAD-S to enable users to create, save and re-use templates.

The CAM component of the software features updates designed to enable easier editing in preparing workpieces for NC machining. In hyperMill 2013.2, users can generate constant fillet faces between two faces or tangential chains that are trimmed and extended automatically. Advanced edge cure recognition creates the topology of the faces and “sews” them together to generate a clean edge boundary. An “integration of texts” command generates text along CAD entities such as lines, arcs and sectors for engraving. A list of most recently used commands also can be accessed from the workplane for faster use.
