Handtmann A-Punkt Automation Celebrates 25 Years of Machine Tool Production
The German-based company has been producing machining centers since 1989.
German machine manufacturer Handtmann A-Punkt, parent company of Handtmann CNC Technologies, is celebrating 25 years of developing and constructing five-axis machining centers. Headquartered in Baienfurt, Germany, the company was acquired by the Handtmann Company Group in 1989. At that time it was integrated into the family-owned company based in Biberach and became part of the Handtmann brand.
Following the acquisition, the company’s focus shifted from constructing gantry robots to developing and building five-axis machining centers, initially for simple machining operations in plastics and aluminum. In 1993, it launched its first profiling machining center for machining long profiles, and Andreas Podiebrad, who still runs the company, took over general management. In 2001, its first overseas subsidiary, Handtmann CNC Technologies, opened in the United States. The company later opened subsidiaries in Russia and is currently planning another for the Asian market.
