Beyond IMTS and McCormick Place, the city of Chicago has plenty on its calendar during the week of Sep. 9-14. Here’s a list of some of the many events the city has to offer while you’re in the area:

September 9th: Swing Dancing at Gallagher Way, The Best of The Second City

Kickstarting the weekend, Gallagher Way offers an outdoor swing dancing experience. Located next to Wrigley Field, this event is a blend of music and community.

Known for launching the careers of many comedy greats, “The Best of The Second City” comedy showcase promises an evening of laughter and satire.

September 10th: Avril Lavigne: The Greatest Hits Tour, The Second City Mainstage's 112th Revue, The Showcase at the Chicago Magic Lounge

Avril Lavigne’s “The Greatest Hits Tour” takes place at Huntington Bank Pavilion on Northerly Island.

Meanwhile, The Second City continues its tradition of delivering cutting-edge comedy with the 112th Revue, showcasing Chicago’s talent for improv and sketch comedy.

For a touch of magic, The Showcase at the Chicago Magic Lounge offers an evening of mind-bending illusions, cabaret performances and sleight of hand.

September 11th: +LIVE+ and Stone Temple Pilots, Outdoor Movies at Gallagher Way: Twilight

For a more relaxed evening, head over to Gallagher Way for outdoor movies under the stars; “Twilight” is screening.

September 12th: The Second City Mainstage's 112th Revue, Wrigleyville Night Market

The Second City's 112th Revue returns with its signature blend of humor and wit. Meanwhile, foodies and craft enthusiasts can explore the Wrigleyville Night Market, featuring local artisans, gourmet food trucks and live music.

September 13th: Chicago’s Grito & Sabor Fest

Sept. 13th kicks off Chicago’s Grito & Sabor Fest. Celebrating Mexican Independence Day through music, dance and culinary delights, this festival promises a sensory journey through Mexican heritage in Chicago.

September 14th: Chicago’s Grito & Sabor Fest, Chicago Fire vs. New York Red Bulls, Oakland Athletics at Chicago White Sox, Wrigleyville Country Fest, Lakeview East Festival of the Arts, Ravenswood ArtWalk, Green City Market in Lincoln Park

As the week draws to a close, Chicago offers an array of events to suit every interest, including the continuation of the Grito & Sabor Fest. Sports fans can catch Chicago Fire facing off against the New York Red Bulls at Soldier Field, or cheer for the Chicago White Sox as they take on the Oakland Athletics at Guaranteed Rate Field.
