The PrecisionMedium B4031.C Light Weight Solution (LWS) boring tool from Walter USA is equipped with the company’s Capto modular toolholding interface to ease handling, speed tool changes and enhance precision. Weighing 3.2 kg, the LWS version maintains the same dimensions, properties and performance levels as its 7.2-kg predecessor, the company says. The single-edged precision boring tool is offered in diameters ranging from 90 to 110 mm and 110 to 153 mm.
The boring tool’s light weight enables easier handling and is beneficial for use in a machine tool magazine that accommodates limited weight. Its design protects the machine and spindle as there is less weight during acceleration and deceleration. Likewise, the moment of force is reduced for the same projection lengths, making it easier to change the tool. According to Walter, the tool is also more effective at reducing vibration. The Capto interface offers high clamping force and even force distribution for backlash-free operation.
